Walking with Grace: Paintings from the Camino de Santiago
I walked the Camino de Santiago in 2015 with my husband. We spent most of our time outdoors for five weeks — walking, eating, and resting. Walking across the countryside of northern Spain on this ancient pilgrimage route was a profound experience for me. I walked roughly twelve miles a day, mostly in silence. I prayed, beheld breathtaking landscapes, and replayed hundreds of moments from my life. It was humbling, at times excruciating, but it lifted a burden from me. In 2017 and 2018 I painted these 7 images from a desire to express what I experienced on my pilgrimage. The title of this series is Walking with Grace.
